Vacuum Infusion Molding

The Vacuum Infusion Process (VIP) uses a vacuum operation in conjunction with a custom-made plastic bag that is placed over the laminate. The negative pressure draws the resin through the reinforcement, making it possible to obtain a greater high fiber, high laminate strength. A very near net shaped part can be produced greatly reducing the time for trimming and finishing operations compared to open molding.
VIP is the only way to go for large fiber laminated components. The enclosure for the wind turbine shown on this page is an assembly of VIP components with finished dimensions of 35' X 10' X 11'.
